ACOUSTIC GUITAR TWEAKING / MODDING First advice. Don't. Unless you (and your expert luthier) know what you're doing. For mods, realize wood is a one way street. Make a mistake, and your instrument will never be the same. But for tweaking, you can still elevate your acoustic guitar by exploring "reversible tweaking." Also. Never do anything to an actual collectible guitar. ________________________________________________________ Tweaking / Modding. The differences? It's sort of like cooking. Note that I said sort of. Also note, I'm awful at cooking. Never let me near a stove except to boil something. However, I have had several friends who were natural born cooks. Able to expertly elevate even a simple one ingredient meal. Which I learned by observing my highly talented cookery friends. So I think cooking can be an effective, easily understood metaphor. Tweaking is like spicing a meal. For example, the Chinese chefs who learned to spice the classic dishes from master chefs in China. How do they elevate even often loathed fresh broccoli into such sublime glory? By tweaking with spices. Modding is more like substantially changing a recipe Possibly to the point of transforming a known recipe into an entirely different dish. What some highly experienced cooks sometimes call "fusion cooking." For example, "Sichuan Kung Pao Chicken Tacos." And yes, that's an actual recipe. Available on the web. Advice? Start with reversible tweaking. Here's basic info. The main point is to keep tweaking and modding from overlapping. Which I've already warned about.
